Studio Above&Below – Quantum Lens

Mixed reality · “Art & Quantum” trail of the World Quantum Cannes Festival, 17–18 November 2026.

A window onto the invisible

Studio Above&Below is an art and technology studio founded by the artist duo Daria Jelonek and Perry-James Sugden. Quantum Lens is an immersive mixed-reality work that explores quantum technologies in three chapters: quantum entanglement, quantum probability and the tunnel effect.

These three singular quantum phenomena are invisible to the naked eye. By turning mixed reality into a symbolic lens, Quantum Lens opens a window onto the invisible: visitors move through three virtual sculptures and an immersive film, at the crossroads of quantum science, data, storytelling and immersive art.

An art and science collaboration

The work grew out of a six-month collaboration between Studio Above&Below and leading quantum scientists in the United Kingdom, including Sir Peter Knight, a renowned figure in quantum technologies. Commissioned as part of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology 2025, it was created for the exhibition “Cosmic Titans: Art, Science, and the Quantum Universe” at Lakeside Arts, Nottingham.
